Every day, millions rely on the seamless flow of goods - from the food on their table to the medicines in hospitals.
Behind that flow, there's 13,500 colleagues, in Europe alone, working across 30+ countries to create smarter, safer and more sustainable logistics solutions.
But we can’t shape the future alone. That’s why we invite you, students, to challenge us, question us and create with us.
Doing your thesis with us means more than writing a report. It’s your chance to tackle real challenges and make an impact in R&D, Research & Innovation, Design, Digitalisation, Legal, Finance and IT.
Building the logistics of tomorrow isn’t only about technology. It’s about having the right capabilities in every part of the organisation. It’s about thinking differently and daring to explore bold ideas that can transform how we work, how we collaborate and how we deliver value to society.
At our Innovation Centre in Vallastaden, Linköping, you will find a vibrant environment designed for students, a space to spark ideas, exchange knowledge and learn from our engineers and specialists. As part of the project, you will step into our Mjölby premises, experiencing the pulse of our factory floors, our labs and our people. That’s where theory meets practice. That’s where innovation becomes real.
Enhancing internal knowledge sharing and training systems
Train autonomous forklifts in NVIDIA Omniverse using Reinforcement Learning for smarter pallet handling.
Challenge decades of conventional design by rethinking the low lifter’s form, function and ergonomics to create a groundbreaking new concept.
Develop a roadmap for embedding sustainability and circularity into forklift design and production, turning climate goals into real industrial solutions.
Design and evaluate next-generation communication systems for forklifts, exploring wireless, fibre optics and PoE-inspired concepts to replace traditional cabling.
Explore innovative warning technologies – from sound to haptics – and design a prototype that helps operators avoid accidents and work more safely.
Explore how working robots, such as AGVs, can better communicate their intent to people around them. This project looks at interaction design through signals like lights, movement patterns and other intuitive cues, aiming to make human–robot collaboration safer and more efficient.
Investigate how AI and UX design can transform the service experience. Possible approaches include smarter error messages that help users solve problems without a technician or developing AI-powered tools that make a technician’s workday easier and more efficient.
Contribute to sustainable innovation by exploring how Toyota Material Handling Europe can reuse or recycle plastic parts from used equipment. Your work may involve finding ways to incorporate recycled material into new forklift parts or identifying other business applications for reclaimed plastics.
