Toyota Material Handling Europe is the Official Partner for material handling equipment at the Olympic & Paralympic Games Paris 2024. Working in collaboration with Toyota Motor the promise is to ensure seamless, effortless, and flexible mobility for all, including both people and goods. A key objective is to ensure that Toyota's activities at the event support the carbon emission target of the Paris 2024 Games. Our aim is to deliver mobility to the Olympic & Paralympic Games in the same way that we deliver for our customers, and the way we deliver for you and other consumers worldwide.
Let’s take a moment to pay tribute to the sung and unsung heroes of the logistics industry, mostly ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Our #wedeliverforyou campaign captures the magic behind the scenes of the intralogistics world and provides an insight into the future of material handling. You call the shots, we make it happen.
To address climate change, the world has to raise its ambition level, and reducing CO2 emissions is key. Consequently, there is a clear focus today on energy sources – and the logistics industry has an important role to play, as it is a major contributor in this area.
The automotive industry is already seeing a significant change, with a move towards electric and hybrid vehicles, and legislation will progressively push for lower carbon solutions. This is reflected in the growing use of electric vans in delivery networks.
However, behind the scenes in the logistics industry, electrification has been the norm for decades. Over 90% of warehouse vehicles are electrically powered, driven by ever-improving battery technologies. Lithium-ion batteries are recognised as the preferred technology due to their energy efficiency and reduced emissions and the industry is also working with hydrogen fuel cells as an alternative source of energy.
We are a major player in the European logistics industry, and we are following a multi-path strategy when it comes to energy sources. This means following the science of new battery chemistries and working with hydrogen as a type of fuel for electric and potentially internal combustion engines. The clear aim is to reduce emissions to the lowest possible level, whilst maintaining high performance. Toyota Material Handling also collaborates with suppliers of solar panels on renewable sources of energy.
The logistics industry is well placed to lead us into the future by limiting our reliance on fossil fuels for warehouses and factories thanks to innovating research and development in alternative energy solutions.
The logistics industry adapts to seasonal shifts and consumer preferences, ensuring that shelves are stocked with the right products at the right time. Since 2015 Toyota has been the Worldwide Mobility partner of the Olympic & Paralympic Games. In 2024 the games move to Paris where we, for the first time, are the official partner for material handling equipment. This fits perfectly with our company purpose to ‘Move the world towards easy and sustainable’ - given Paris 2024's carbon emission target.
From October 2022, all employees in the company are invited to join Toyota’s ‘Start Your Impossible’ programme, with the aim to make a difference for themselves, their colleagues and society at large.
