2014 was the year of innovation for Toyota Material Handling, with more launches than ever before, supported by a remarkable presence at the world’s largest intralogistics fair – CeMAT 2014. Now Toyota made it into the final round of the prestigious International Forklift Truck of the Year Award 2015 with four products nominated in three separate categories. "Only the best of the best in terms of innovation have made it into the final round", says Anita Würmser, Chairperson of the IFOY Jury.
The all-new Tonero HST LPG with hydrostatic transmission is nominated in the counterbalanced trucks up to 3.5t category, the BT Levio P-series electric pallet truck competes in the warehouse category, while the Traigo 80 4.0 - 5.0t electric truck and the diesel-powered Tonero 3.5 - 8.0t run in the category counterbalanced trucks from 3.5t.
The winner in each category will be chosen in March by the international jury and reputed trade journalists as well as leading logistics media from 13 countries. Which trucks are ultimately chosen for the IFOY Award 2015 will depend in large measure on the results of the IFOY Test and IFOY Innovation Check, which all nominated trucks have to undergo during the IFOY Test Week from the 20th until the 26th of February in Osnabruck, Germany.
The IFOY Award assesses innovative quality, technology, design, ergonomics, handling, safety, cost effectiveness and sustainability, to name but few of the relevant criteria.
In 2014 Toyota Material Handling has been the only company in the forklift industry to receive two IFOY awards: one for the Traigo 80 electric counterbalanced truck, the other for the exceptional I_Site fleet management solution.
The IFOY winners will be announced and the awards will be presented on the 5th of May at the BMW Museum in Munich.
