Explore Toyota Material Handling Europe’s approach to sustainability and low carbon product design at LogiMAT 2026

Sustainability is again a high-priority topic for Toyota Material Handling at LogiMAT 2026. The company has been awarded Platinum rating by EcoVadis at both European and local level, in Germany, putting it in the top 1% of organisations worldwide. This is achieved by a continuous process of improvement as demonstrated on the LogiMAT booth.

A key initiative for Toyota Material Handling Europe is a collaboration with SSAB, a Swedish-based steel manufacturer, to use low-carbon steel in a growing number of products. Toyota is seen as an early mover when it comes to the use of lower carbon materials, setting new standards for the industry. The use of low carbon-steel in our Toyota Lifter LHM230 hand pallet trucks has resulted in an 18% carbon emissions reduction cradle to gate compared to previous models.

Another feature on the Toyota booth at LogiMAT is an interactive tool that allows visitors to explore different aspects of truck design, to learn about how the company is exploring different ideas to further reduce carbon in the future - with potential improvements to components, paint, and other materials.

LogiMAT 2026 will also be the platform for Toyota Material Handling Europe to release its latest 2025 sustainability report. This report provides information about the company’s progress against its science-based targets and reports on new initiatives such as the investment in a new truck refurbishment centre to support the European market.

Senior Sustainability Manager, Marc Maureaux adds, “The focus on sustainability is evident in so many areas of what we are showing on the booth at LogiMAT this year. Safety is a critical issue, so we are demonstrating new ideas to improve safety across many of our products, as well as collaborations with innovative companies who provide progressive solutions to improve safety in logistics operations. We are also continuously improving energy efficiency within our product range and there are many examples on display at this year’s event, such as the new Traigo80 3.5 to 5.0t with up to 12% energy savings  compared to previous models.”
